F87 M2 front rotors — 400 × 36 mm, sold as a pair.
Replacing the factory front disc with a two-piece rotor changes where the heat goes. On an F87 M2 running the 400 × 36 mm disc that matters: it is a heavy disc on a short-wheelbase car, and the front axle does most of the work.
A single casting expands as one piece. Under repeated hard stops the friction face heats faster than the hat, the disc cones slightly, and the pads never sit flat again — that is the shudder at 60 mph, and the bluing across the face. A two-piece disc splits the job: the ring takes the heat, the hat holds the hub. The ring is G3500 high-carbon cast iron; the hat is CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminium, bolted through stainless floating hardware.
Identification is by size, not by model year: 400 mm across the face, 36 mm at the edge, 64 mm from the friction face to the hat mounting face. If you measure 380 mm you are looking at the other M2 front disc, and it takes a different pad and caliper bracket.
Fits F87 M2 front axles with the 400 × 36 mm disc — OE 34118072017 and 34118072018. Sending your VIN and a photo of the disc face is the fastest way to confirm before you order.
▸ Fixed or full-floating — which one?
Fixed is quieter and is what most road cars want. Full-floating lets the ring move more freely under sustained heat and is what we recommend for regular track use; the trade-off is a light rattle at low speed, which is normal and not a fault.
▸ Pads, bedding and ring replacement
You do not always need new pads — but if yours are below 30% on a fresh disc, fit new ones at the same time. Old pad deposits are the most common reason a brand-new rotor feels warped. Bed both in with 6–8 moderate stops from 80 km/h, letting them cool between.
▸ Lead time
Built to order. Production takes 10–12 days. Left and right are matched and marked before packing. Transit time depends on destination and service — we confirm shipping and delivery dates by email before you pay.
